Stormtroopers wins Best VFX & Best Sound Design

Stormtroopers won 2 awards at the 2018 Underground Cinema Short Film Awards on Saturday night in a Black Tie Gala held in Dun Laoghaire and it was attended by Irish film legend John Boorman. Stormtroopers is written & directed by Micheal Fitzgerald. The 2018 Underground Cinema Short Film Awards featured films from Paddy Slattery; Tristan Heanue; David Fox, Peter Coonan & Victoria Smurfit amongst other leading lights of the Irish independent film making community. Paddy Slattery won the John Boorman Special Achievement Award. Another highlight of the awards was Kubrick by Candlelight by David O'Reilly which won Best Comedy & Best Costume Design. Stormtroopers won Best Visual Effects for Dog Day Media & Best Sound Design for Alan Keogh. Stormtroopers was also nominated for Best Cinematography, Best Editing, Best Score & Best Production Design. The awards were sponsored by Silverspear Gin.

Stormtroopers is an Irish sci-fi short film about a Platoon of Stormtroopers who raid a remote Rebel Mining Colony. Stormtroopers was filmed in Cork; Waterford & Tipperary and it premiered 200ft underground in Mitchelstown Cave. It also screened to full houses at Dublin Comic Con & IndieCork. Stormtroopers stars Carolyn Bracken, Peter Cosgrove, Klancy Casey Williams, Micheal Fitzgerald, Michael Stack & Melissa Ciepierski.
