Cork Racing so close to dominant win.

Cork Racing Team driver Alan Dwyer stunned Mondello Park by making a huge return to competitiveness in the
Irish Formula Ford championship.

Dwyer made a lightning start from third on the grid and dominated the Round 7 race of the championship by
setting fastest lap. He was winning a wheel to wheel battle with Morgan Dempsey in the closing laps when
his Van Diemen RF01 developed braking problems. Subsequently, Dwyer had a massive brake failure on the
last lap at Devaneys which gifted Dempsey the win but Dwyer rescued the car to grab fifth. Polesitter Paul
Dagg took second ahead of Noel Dunne.

Earlier in Round 6 the race was interrupted by an early safety car after a dramatic first corner
accident. Eugene Heary was launched into a roll after contact with Michael Maher landing upside down. Hearys
Crossle then caught fire but he manged to escape unharmed.

In Round 6 Dwyer had a long battle with Noel Dunne as the two leaped ahead of the rest of the field. Dwyer
closed right in on Dunne and looked like he might have a shot at the win but with two laps to go white smoke
started pouring from the Cork Racing Van Diemen. Dwyer slowed right down and coasted to the flag to get some points. He was classified sixth and also set the fastest lap time. Morgan Dempsey and Kris Loane
completed the Noel Dunne led podium.

Cork Racing Team driver Micheal Fitzgerald was denied a place on the starting grid in the Swift SC92 with
terminal engine problems in qualifying but the weekend demonstrated the Cork Racing Team has finally turned a
corner and is on the return to the top after months of hard work by the Dwyer Engineering supported team.
