Cork Racing at Mondello Park

Cork Racing had a very frustrating weekend at Mondello Park in Rounds 3 & 4 of the Irish Formula Ford Championship. Both cars started quick but continued to suffer from engine troubles which ultimately handicapped their race pace. Noel Dunne won Round 3 from Neville Smyth and Paul Dagg. Alan Dwyer was 9th and Micheal Fitzgerald was 19th. Paul Dagg won Round 4 from Noel Dunne and John Ferguson. Alan Dwyer finished 10th and Micheal Fitzgerald 20th.

Alan Dwyer "In the second race I was involved in an eight car dogfight for second and I battled hard for the place but in the end I was pushed out over the gravel. The Van Diemen has excellent handling but I'm down on engine power."

Micheal Fitzgerald "I made two fantastic starts in both races threading the needle between a number of cars but then I gradually began losing engine power during each race. I could catch anybody under braking but I'd lose them on the power out of the corner. I'm very dissapointed with the weekend" Cork Racing will have their work cut out to tackle the cars in readiness for Round 5 of the Formula Ford Championship at Kirkistown on May 27th.
