Alan Dwyer
misses out on FF1600 Championship title |
||
| Alan Dwyer suffered a bad luck weekend at Mondello Park. Alan had a puncture in the first Formula Ford 1600 Race and finished fourth in the second race. Unfortunately this meant he finshed second in the Irish FF1600 championship that he had strongly lead for most of the season. With many drivers complaining that the circuit’s timing system hadn’t registered their quickest laps, the qualifying order was revised before the start of the race. Dubliner Noel Dunne took Race 1 from Paul Dagg and Neville Smyth while Smyth took race two and won the coveted Leinster Trophy Noel Dunne, Dagg and Alan Dwyer who held off late race pressure from Victor Gibson and former Formula Renault racer Keith Dempsey. In the Formula Libre race Micheal Fitzgerald had a good race to finish fifth while Dwyer Engineering welcomed new sponsor PC Systems Ltd of Cork to the team.
