Corks Alan Dwyer extended his lead in the Irish Formula Ford 1600 Championship with a stirring drive to third at Kirkistown, Northern Ireland.

Debuting a new engine, Alan qualified his Dwuer Engineeeing Swift92C in eighth but made up places with a fantastic start and steady pressure on the opponents ahead of him. Dubliner Noel Dunne won the race ahead of Neville Smyth, Alan third with John Ferguson fourth and Paul Dagg fifth.

The result sets up a finale shoot out for the Irish FF1600 Championship title in the final rounds at Mondello Park on Sept 10/11th.
